Malibu is a haven that effortlessly blends natural beauty, culinary delights, and a laid-back coastal vibe. From the captivating hikes along the Point Dume Cove Trail to the mouthwatering cuisine at Malibu Farms, and the retail therapy at Malibu Country Mart, this summer trip was a true delight for the senses. The rocky ocean views, the refreshing cocktails at Paradise Cove, and the simple pleasure of sandy toes reminded me of the beauty of life's small moments. If you're seeking a summer escape that combines adventure, relaxation, and the coastal charm, Malibu is the perfect destination to embrace the magic of summer.
Rejuvenation by the beach
I immersed myself in the therapeutic wonders of the beach at Point Dume State Beach. The salty air rejuvenated my senses, invigorating both mind and body. With my toes in the soft sand, I felt a deep connection with nature. Watching the waves, I couldn't help but appreciate the simplicity and beauty of life. All the sensations were present: salty air, warm sun, gentle breeze, cool water, and soft sand. Whether you choose to lounge on the beach or take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, the beach experience in Malibu is sure to reinvigorate your senses and leave you feeling refreshed.
Photo worthy ocean rocky views
Capture the beauty of Malibu's rugged coastline with its photogenic ocean rocky views. These scenic vistas serve as the perfect backdrop for memorable photos, encapsulating the essence of this breathtaking destination. Additionally, a visit to the massive sandy dune along Pacific Coast Highway allows you to experience the raw power and beauty of nature.
Be sure to park at the far end of the paid parking lot to take photos near the rocks of Point Dume!
Point Dume cove trail at sunset
Coastal hiking embarking on the Point Dume Cove Trail at sunset is an experience you won't soon forget. The trail meanders through lush greenery, wooden walkways, sandy paths, and scenic overlooks that showcase breathtaking views of the sparkling blue waters. As the sun paints the sky with hues of gold and pink, the soft warmth embraces your senses, creating a serene and magical atmosphere.
I parked for free near the Poppy Trail sign but the car wait was long!
CULINARY DELIGHTS AT MALIBU FARM
After working up an appetite, I headed to Malibu Farm Restaurant, a charming eatery at the beginning of the pier. There, I savored a mouthwatering spaghetti squash lasagna, perfectly complemented by a refreshing mint lemonade. The farm-to-table concept combined with the ocean view created a serene dining experience that truly embodied the essence of Malibu.
Paradise Cove’s vacation cocktails
For a truly tropical experience, I ventured to Paradise Cove Cafe, a hidden gem renowned for its pristine beaches and laid-back atmosphere. Here, I indulged in a variety of vacation-themed cocktails, including coconut and watermelon drinks that perfectly captured the spirit of summer. Relaxing on the soft sand, with waves crashing gently in the background, I felt like I had discovered my own personal paradise.
Retail therapy at Malibu Country Mart
No trip to Malibu is complete without exploring the trendy boutiques at Malibu Country Mart. I found myself immersed in a world of fashion and luxury at Gorjana, a stylish jewelry store known for its unique coastal designs. I love my Newport layering set and they also have a sunset etched gold necklace! Additionally, the surf shops scattered throughout the mart offered a range of beach-inspired apparel and accessories, allowing me to bring a piece of Malibu's surf culture back home.
WHERE TO STAY FOR A REASONABLE COST
To make the most of your budget while remaining comfortable, consider staying inland at the Courtyard Marriott Agoura Hills. Located just a short 25-minute drive from Malibu over the hill, this comfortable and affordable accommodation option provides a tranquil retreat after a day of exploration. Enjoy the amenities, unwind by the pool, grab a Starbucks, and recharge for another day of Malibu adventures.
LOS AGAVES RESTAURANT WESTLAKE VILLAGE
If you’re like me and love Mexican food, Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant isn’t too far from the Marriott Agoura Hill. I enjoyed the patio on a warm summer evening! The pyramid of rice was a fun display on my plate.
